Update 29th January

The First Minister has announced today (29 January) that there will be no change to the current alert Level 4 restrictions. All non-essential retail, hospitality venues, licensed premises and leisure facilities must remain closed. The next review will take place on the 19th of February.  

Although the Welsh Government have amended restrictions in Wales to allow a maximum of two people from two different households to exercise together. Exercise must still start and finish from their home. Golf and courses are still required to close in alert level 4. 

Wales Golf continues to promote the benefits of Golf as an activity with established COVID-19 secure practices and a sport that can be played safely by thousands of people under COVID-19 restrictions across the country. 

The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Golf has produced a COVID-19 Secure Golf paper with scientific evidence which has been sent to the Welsh Government to assist with future decision making. The full COVID-19 Secure Golf in the United Kingdom 2021’ document can be found here

The Welsh Government has provided details of the £200 million package of support for non-essential retail, hospitality, leisure and tourism businesses that continue to be impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.
