Children travelling for sport and further travel restrictions

The Welsh Government have announced that from 6pm on Friday 16th October, that ‘it is a reasonable excuse to enter or leave a local health protection area to participate in or facilitate organised activities for the development or well-being of children.

Therefore children and young people who are aged under 18 on 31st August 2020 can now enter or leave a local health protection area to play sport.

An adult can leave a lockdown area to ‘participate in or facilitate organised activities for the development or wellbeing of children (including sports, music and other recreational activities such as those provided for children outside of school hours and during school holidays)’. This includes transporting children to the organised activity.

Adults are not permitted to enter or leave local lockdown areas to participate in sport that is not for the ‘development or wellbeing of children’,

Full guidance is currently not available, but we will provide a further update in due course.

The Welsh Government have also updated Travel Restrictions for those travelling into Wales from a ‘Tier 2 Local COVID-19 Alert Level’ coming from England, Scotland or Northern Ireland.

This regulation will prevent any golfers from the above restricted areas travelling to any Welsh Golf Club.
