About Club Business Support

Supporting clubs to be more business-like and develop as a whole

The business support scheme was established in 2010 and since that time has supported over 80 clubs in Wales to become more sustainable.

Clubs can take advantage of a more flexible approach which is based around the needs of each club. Working in partnership with a Wales Golf Regional Officer clubs utilise a number of support tools including the Strong Club Matrix which assesses the support needs of the club across key areas of the business. As part of the support clubs also have access to the mystery shopper service and Customer Feedback Tracker (survey tool) which will allow clubs to better understand how they are performing before putting improvement plans in place.

Golf Wales, in partnership with organisations such as England Golf, Scottish Golf, GCMA, PGA and NGCAA have developed ‘A Governance Guide for Clubs’ which helps clubs to better understand how to structure and govern themselves effectively. Each club in Wales can receive a free hard copy version of the guide.

Support for clubs is a combination of consultancy, cluster workshops on key themes, guidance from the regional club development officer, as well as, access to a bank of templates and resources. Additional support can also be accessed through grants and/or clubs self-funding.

An outline of the support provided to clubs can be downloaded below. Alternatively contact your regional club development officer for more details.
