Event 5 of the 2019 Ping Welsh Junior Tour took us to The Royal Town of Caernarfon Golf Club in North West Wales, a new venue for the Junior Tour. This fabulous course runs along the North Wales coastline overlooking Anglesea and offered a superb challenge to just under 70 golfers across the 4 categories.

In the U14’s, Morgan Yorke made the trip up the coast from Aberdovey Golf Club to claim the victory with a fantastic 46 stableford points scored. Sean Moody (Padeswood & Buckley Golf Club) shot an excellent 42 points to give him his 2nd podium finish of the year. Joshua Westcott (Ashburnham Golf Club) produced his best performance of the year to also score 42 points, and take 3rd position. Annabel Collis took the top girl award.

The U12’s category saw William Pontin (Pyle & Kenfig) take his 4th win of the year scoring a superb 58 points. Jemma Nand-Lal (Milford Haven) finished second and took the top girl award with 50 points with Alex Millington (Padeswood & Buckley) taking the final spot on the podium with 49 points.

Casper Van Rensburg (Celtic Manor) was delighted to take his very first junior tour win in the U10 category after scoring 54 points to take a one point victory. Fallon Sawyers-Grandon (Swansea Bay) kept up his record of finishing in the top 3 at every event so far this year with 53 points good enough to beat George Ledsham (Mold) on countback. Hollie Sigsworth also from Mold took the top girl award.

Ricky Mohun (Wrexham Golf Club) took a comfortable victory in the U8’s with 51 points scored, going one better than his 2nd placed finish at Lakeside the week before. Henry Tonks and Wil Connah from Mold took 2nd and 3rd scoring 45 and 43 points respectively.

Our thanks go to Caernarfon Golf Club for being so accommodating, to all the competitors, including the parents, grandparents and guardians that took the time to bring their children and let them enjoy the day. We would like to further send our gratitude to the volunteers who helped run the event and extend our thanks to Ping, for helping us to run this fantastic tour.
