Girls Golf Cymru Coaching – North Wales

Girls Golf Cymru Coaching is a Winter Coaching programme running from October through to March for Junior Girls (under 18) who are a member of a golf club.

The aim of this Winter programme is to enable girls to meet other girls in North Wales*, learn to play on the golf course, gain a WHS Handicap Index and play more competitive golf over the winter months. The sessions will be fun and friendly, aimed at all abilities, and with equipment provided.  

Each clinic will have a different theme.

£15 per clinic (includes lunch)

  • 26th November – Penmaenmawr Golf Club
  • 10th December – Conwy Golf Club
  • 28th January – Penmaenmawr Golf Club (Sign up NOW OPEN)

  • TBC March – Penmawnawr Golf Club (Sign up opening soon )

Time:

Registration – 9.45am registration

Session –  10am – 3pm

 

Parents are welcome to stay but must book their own food directly with the golf clubs.

 

*Please note, this is a North Wales pilot for 2023-2024. Wales Golf will look for a national roll out Winter 2024 if the programme is a success.

Do I need to be a member of a Golf Club? 

Girls Golf Cymru Coaching is aimed at club members or those about to become a member of a golf club.

 

What will each session include? 

Girls will either receive a day coaching or an on course session. Lunch will be provided.

Each session will have a theme. E.G Halloween, Christmas, Easter etc.

 

 

What happens if I do not have golf clubs?

We will provide golf clubs if you do not have any!

 

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes and shoes (golf shoes if possible), a change of clothes/shoes if you get wet and waterproofs just in case the weather unexpectedly turns!

 

What should I bring?

  • Golf clubs
  • Waterproofs
  • Sensible footwear
  • Plenty of Warm layers

 

Will the sessions be called off due to bad weather? 

No, the sessions will still go ahead even if the weather is bad. We will have indoor activities if the weather is poor.

Can parents/guardians stay for the duration of the coaching sessions?

Yes of course parents/guardians can stay. Help would be appreciated during the sessions when players are on the golf course!

How do I get a WHS Handicap Index?

  • To obtain an initial Handicap Index, a player must submit acceptable scores from a minimum of 54 holes.
  • This can be made up of 9/18 holes
  • Submitted via the Wales Golf App, or scorecard handed into the club.
  • Players must play from a Course Rated set of tees
