The second event of the Ping Junior Tour took us to Carmarthen Golf Club in South West Wales. Storm Hannah did her best to disrupt preparations for the event but 85 golfers arrived to calm conditions on the Sunday to tackle this excellent course.

In the U14 category scoring was excellent with twelve players either playing too or better than handicap and three players managing to break the 40 point barrier. Of those three Elin Tynan (Minchinhampton Golf Club) claimed 3rd position on 40 points, also taking home the top girl award.  Oliver King (Milford Haven Golf Club) claimed the runners up spot on 41 points with Logan Scherpe, (Cilgwyn Golf Club) claiming the overall victory and top boy award with a superb 42 points.

William Pontin (Pyle & Kenfig Golf Club) remains the man to beat in the U12 category and once again claimed the overall victory and top boy award finishing with 62 points in the modified stableford format. George Coombs (Glamorganshire Golf Club) claimed the runners up spot on 59 points just pipping fellow Glamorganshire player Owen Williams on countback. Jemma Nand-Lal (Milford Haven) picked up the leading girl award finishing in an excellent 10th overall.

Fallon Sawyers-Grandon (Swansea Bay) also kept up an unbeaten record in the U10 category, but only just as he took the top spot courtesy of count back from Reuben Baker (Builth Wells) as they both finished on 60 points. Alicia Kelly (Wernddu) took 3rd position on 59 points once again coming out on top of a tie break from Tomas Carlson. Alicia also took home the top girl award.

In the Under 8’s we ended up with a clear winner with Oliver Hulbert (Monmouthshire) producing perhaps the best display of the day with to finish on 63 points and take a clear victory. Logan Medicott (Milford Haven) will have been delighted to have finished in second on 40 points with Alana Penny (Swansea Bay) taking third position and top girl on 33 points.

Our thanks once again go to all competitors, including the parents/grandparents/guardians that took the time to bring them and let them enjoy the day and the volunteers who helped run the event. Ping, for helping us to run this fantastic tour and Carmarthen Golf Club who once again were most accommodating and helped us produce a superb event.
