What is a SafeGolf Club?

Wales Golf is dedicated to promoting a safe and positive environment for all those participating, working and volunteering in the sport of golf and want to ensure all people have a fun, safe and positive experience when playing golf.

To help achieve this Wales Golf are asking clubs who access funding and support from Wales Golf and/or the Golf Foundation to become a SafeGolf Club, this will help safeguard our young people within a golfing environment.

What are the criteria to become a SafeGolf Club?

1. Gain the online SafeGolf Junior GolfCert Accreditation

2. Have a child and adult safeguarding policy in place – download club template policies here

3. Have a Junior Organiser who is DBS checked and attended a Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop (all other volunteers helping within the junior section will also need to have DBS and SPC)

4. PGA Professional at the club will need to be on the SafeGolf Accredited Coaches list on the SafeGolf website www.safegolf.org (so have a current DBS check and have attended an SPC course)

5. Have a Club Welfare Officer who has attended a Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Time to Listen workshop (due to COVID-19 we are running SPC and TTL online classrooms. CWO’s can book onto next available course(s) to meet SafeGolf criteria).
