Want to become a Wales Golf Championships Volunteer?
Volunteers are an important part of the Wales Golf Championships Team. There are several roles that we are looking to recruit for the 2023 season and beyond. These include starters, tournament office administrators, course raters and referees.
An official who will primarily be based in the Championship Office at an event, aiding the Tournament Leads in undertaking any task necessary to ensure the smooth running of an event. This includes, but is not limited to, score recording, registration, additional club volunteer management etc.
An official who decides upon and applies the Rules of Golf at an event, as well as aiding in maintaining the general pace of play of a Championship. Works as part of a team alongside other referees and the Tournament Lead to ensure that all players adhere to the Rules of Golf throughout.
An official who meets and greets players onto the first tee, administering event-specific information to ensure that players tee off on time in a safe and controlled manner.
An official who works as part of a team alongside the Handicapping Department in attending Welsh Golf Clubs to measure the course in line with the World Handicapping System (WHS), to develop course ratings and slope ratings when any courses have had changes made to their layout and structure.
Food and drink are provided at each Championship in addition to accommodation when necessary. Full training is also given for all roles, except for referees, who would be expected to pass The R&A Level 2 Rules of Golf qualified. Wales Golf is looking to organise two Level 2 Rules Schools scheduled for early 2023. Further details of these courses will be sent out to those who register their interest below.
