Wales Golf launch first Festival in North Wales
Wales Golf has announced a second festival for later in the summer, with the latest event based in North Wales involving fun, mixed and disability competition.
The second Wales Golf Festival will be held at Abergele October 8-10, to complement the earlier event at Parc between Cardiff and Newport in June.
All Wales Golf Championships and Events will be COVID-19 compliant and follow all Welsh Government COVID-19 Guidelines and industry protocol at the time of the event.
The Abergele festival will see a Disability Championship on Friday, Golf Sixes Family Cup on Saturday morning, Summer Swing event on Saturday afternoon and the new Welsh Mixed Medal Final under the new World Handicap System on the Sunday.
“We are excited to present two festivals this year, one in the South and one in the North, especially after the 2020 season when the festival was cancelled for obvious reasons,” said Wales Golf Championship Manager David Wilson.
“Naturally these events will depend on the Welsh Government COVID-19 advice in place at the time, but we hope these events in midsummer and autumn will be cleared to go ahead.
“Staging one each in North Wales and South Wales gives many more golfers the chance to take up in some fun competition as part of the Wales Golf slogan Everyone’s Game, Anywhere.
“There will be a variety of abilities, short six hole competitions and full 18 hole medals, while the new World Handicap System will allow both men and women to compete against each other off the same, or different tees.
“These two events will be key features of the Welsh golfing calendar which we hope will grow year on year after their belated launch in 2021.
