Wales Golf partners with Golf Business International

A new partnership between Wales Golf and Golf Business International, the collective of independent, experienced golf industry professionals, will enable member clubs to access specialist knowledge and expertise.

Golf Business International’s 24 members have more than 300 years’ collective experience across all areas of golf business and can provide Wales Golf’s 143 member clubs with valuable advice and practical help.

Wales Golf’s existing strategic plan calls for ‘50 strong, accessible clubs achieving gold standard’ and ‘50 clubs achieving Junior Accreditation’, as well as introducing a quarter of a million people to the game before 2022.

Golf Business International members are perfectly placed to assist in achieving these goals with expertise in many different sectors

Wales Golf’s director of development, Hannah McAllister, explained: “We are delighted to announce our new partnership alongside Golf Business International. Working with such a wide variety of professional and experienced consultants, we will be able to expand the areas of support we provide to clubs throughout Wales. The partnership will also perfectly complement the work we deliver to clubs through our Business Support Schemes.”

Golf Business International chairman John Ashworth added: “We are aiming initially to work together with Wales Golf to promote a number of roadshows throughout the country focusing on the ‘hot topics of the day’ and showcasing how our membership may help golf clubs in coping with them.

“We are delighted to be working with Wales Golf in this way and we hope that the member clubs will come to look upon our members as potential extensions of their own operational teams.”

Wales Golf, based at the 2010 Ryder Cup venue, Celtic Manor Resort, in Newport, is the national representative body for the non-professional game in the country, managing the game through regional managers and development officers. Membership consists of individual golf clubs paying an annual subscription.

Formed originally as the Golf Consultants Association in 1999, Golf Business International, which rebranded in 2017 and is now also a ‘preferred partner’ of England Golf, is unique in its ability to make available a team of highly respected and experienced golf industry professionals to deal with any aspect of the business of golf through from conception to end.
