Wales Golf open applications for COVID-19 Winter Resilience and Sustainability Fund

Tuesday 1st September, 2020

Wales Golf has today started inviting applications from all affiliated clubs to The R&A’s Winter Resilience and Sustainability Fund.

The R&A has made £205,000 available, administered by Wales Golf, to support clubs in dealing with the pandemic. Each club/facility may apply for a grant of between £2,000 to £10,000.

Clubs affiliated to Wales Golf can apply for this via the Wales Golf website before the deadline of 30th September 2020.

The Fund will provide financial help and support clubs to build resilience and improve sustainability through the winter months and beyond. It is focused on improving and adapting current operations to create the best possible experience for golfers, while also planning for the future.

Clubs applying will be asked to commit to Wales Golf’s policies on safeguarding and equality plus other essential criteria, all of which are important for the growth of the game

Richard Dixon CEO of Wales Golf said, “The fund has been welcomed as a means to help clubs through this challenging time. May I take this opportunity to thank The R&A for providing the much needed support.

“I would also like to thank the clubs and the Wales Golf team for all their efforts over the past few difficult months. Their drive and commitment to developing the game, building resilience and finding solutions to ensure we are stronger and sustainable will be crucial to golf’s recovery.

“The Fund is limited, and demand will be high, however, a fair application and assessment process has been put in place to identify the strongest applications based on need, sustainability, impact of the project and previous commitment and engagement to growing the game.

“Clubs will discover the outcome of applications from week commencing 31st October and funds will start to be distributed shortly after.

“Our team on hand to support clubs through the process.’’
